It was a nice day to get out of the city! It wasn’t the Bolivian death ride, but more of a beach-cruiser-promenade along the waterfront of Argentinian colonial mansions type of ride. The train dropped us off in San Isidro district (near President Christina Kirchner’s house - so you get the idea about the type of neighborhood - and P.S. she takes a helicopter every day to the capital building), where we rode bikes to Tigre, a town 20 miles upriver from Buenos Aires. Here’s a picture of the delta deforestation (shout out Greg Schwartz).
The high class suburbs (well, except for the shantytown of 26,000 homeless people) were beautiful. We quizzed our bike tour guide (and company owner) and he confirmed a typical Argentinian menu ... seems totally unhealthy, but who are we to judge? We exported McDonalds.
